'Awelon' cottage is set in a pleasant streamside setting and is situated on a quiet unmade road. A forestry track that leads off into the widerness is just opposite. This traditional Quarry-man’s Cottage, over 120 years old, is built of the finest Welsh Slate.
The cottage is bright and homely and has a really cosy feel.
The kitchen/ diner, which has at one end, an open log fire with the original stonework exposed, has just recently been re-opened and is now in full working order. The kitchen is very well equipped with a George Forman grill, slow cooker,micro-wave, fridge-freezer, toaster.
The table seats 6 comfortably and makes this room the heart of the house.
After an exciting day out, of which we’re sure you’ll have many, the cottage is a perfect retreat to just put your feet up with a nice cup of tea, next to a roaring log fire.
The lounge has plenty of comfortable seating for 6, with side tables and a coffee table. This is a lovely room to relax in comfort with your glass of wine. It has a duel-fuel log burnerand there is also oiled fired central heating just to make sure your stay is warm, cosy and comfortable.
The upstairs has 2 floors, the 1st floor has 2 bedrooms and bathroom with shower above the bath. On the top floor is a large twin room.
Bedroom 1 has a very comfortable king-size bed. The pillows supplied for all beds are the new ‘micro-fibre’ and of 5-7 star hotel quality as are the duvets supplied. All are allergy free. There are other pillows available, but none are feather.
Bedroom 2 also has a comfortable king bed topped with a memory foam matteress topper and also feather matteress topper, sheer luxury. This room has the sound of the stream and views of the mountains and castle, the castle views are in winter only as there are many trees in the summer months. Both bedrooms are tastefully decorated with a cosy ‘cottagy’ feel.
In the attic room, which has exposed stone work, you’ll find a large twin, two single beds with double duvets, just for your comfort, and enough room to accommodate an extra ‘put u up bed’ suitable for an older child or adult. There is a DVD-TV in this room. We also have a travel cot available on request.
Bedding and towels are supplied.
There are slate floors and rugs to the ground floor and it is tastefully decorated.
We supply a ‘welcome pack’ of tea, coffee and sugar, a bundle of logs with firelighters and kindling, and there will also be a complimentary bottle of wine and some of our own ‘free range’ eggs when available.
The rear garden overlooks one of the many local streams but is fully fenced for child saftey. In the garden is a studio with pool table and darts. A bar-b-q is also available.

The £50.00 is the deposit only and is required at the time of booking it can be paid by paypal, cheque or postal order, the remainder is requested and prefered by cheque 8 weeks prior to arrival. A separate, refundable damage/breakges deposit of £75.00 is also required and is uncashed and returned upon inspection after vacation.
Awelon is unsuitable for the elderley and infirm, there are steep steps to the back garden.
Awelon is a no smoking cottage.
